Cancer Sucks…

Do you want to tell the world that cancer sucks? Well, read on: Everyone knows someone who has cancer, or knows someone who knows someone else affected by this tragic medical condition. My mom had stomach cancer and it affected our whole family. It was so saddening to see my mom suffering a slow death. She was a brave person and lasted 15 months after diagnoses of her stage 4 cancer… the worst kind. She was expected to live a few months. Because she never gave up, she underwent the horrible experience of chemotherapy… a process whereby the whole body is poisoned in the hopes that the good cells will regenerate and the cancer cells will not. The bittersweet part was that my mom was responding very well to chemotherapy, which made us all hopeful. The sad part was that complications from cancer, such as 3 major brain strokes affected her so that she died slowly, bedridden in a vegetative state. Cancer sucks, and yes… this is just another example of why it’s such a terrible thing… but my mom’s story is also one of hope and bravery. I never knew someone could be so strong and beautiful.
