He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia to which the country superstar pleaded no contest. Texas border patrol officers on Interstate 10 had noticed the smell of pot inside the Redheaded Stranger’s tour bus, which led to Nelson’s arrest. Nelson is a known advocate of marijuana use and has been actively campaigning for its legalization for many years now. It seems the authorities will just have to keep on arresting him until they pass a law to this effect. However, Nelson has to stay out of trouble for about a month for the case to be dismissed. He also had to pay a $500 fine plus court expenses for this particular misdemeanor.
