Lebanon Lifts Ban on Lady Gaga

Lebanese fans of Lady Gaga will finally be able to purchase her latest album, Born This Way. Lebanon, a conservative country initially banned the album because of one track which was seen to be “offensive to Christians.” Radio networks were also not allowed to play the album. The ban was lifted due to the pressure from fans who claimed they could listen to it over the internet anyway so such moves were pointless. Lady Gaga’s fans are not called Little Monsters for nothing and they really do have a point. Born This Way quickly rose to the charts upon its release in May. It’s probably on its way to topping the Lebanese music charts as well.

Alec Baldwin for Mayor

The 30 Rock actor has always been vocal about his desire to join politics and he seems to be getting ready for the 2013 mayoral elections. Though initially he said he preferred to be the Governor of New York, stating that he’s definitely more qualified than former California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the mayor’s seat seems to be a good goal for now. Baldwin, who’s a born New Yorker, is a devoted Democrat. He was one of most visible celebrities supporting the Obama campaign in 2008.He has expressed his intention to retire from 30 Rock in 2012 which could be the beginning of a political career for him. His representative, Matthew Hilzik seems to think it’s in the future for the Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG awardee. Baldwin is 53 years old, an animal rights activist and currently serves as a board member of People for the American Way.

Lindsay Lohan Wins TRO

She hasn’t been lucky getting the court to see things her way but Lindsay Lohan had a small victory recently. The 24 year old actress managed to obtain a two-year restraining order against her stalker. Her stalker who was identified as David Cocordan has to always keep a 100-yard distance from Lohan. According to Lohan, Cocordan sent her dozens of text messages that made her fear for her life. She also said she was afraid she was going to get sexually assaulted. Her stalker seemed to believe they were in a romantic relationship and was seen several times bringing gifts to Lohan’s house. Lohan is presently under house arrest, so she was not present at court.

Spiderman Broadway Frozen

It’s perhaps the Broadway show with the most record of accidents but certainly the most exciting to date. It’s official, Spiderman Turn off the Dark is a “frozen” show. So what does that mean really? It means there will be no more alterations as far as choreography, lyrics, etc, go…no more changes! The show has had 177 preview performances prior to this move. A new director has taken over…it’s Philip McKinley and he pairs with writer, Roberto-Aguirre Sacasa. Julie Taymor used to be the show’s director and co-writer, she left the production March of this year. Spiderman will have its opening night on June14th.

Sheryl Crow’s Legs

Sheryl Crow who is forty-two years is undoubtedly in fantastic shape. Her really toned legs are getting a lot of attention these days. Netizens are in awe of her pictures showcasing her awesome calves. We wonder if being insanely fit is a requirement in her circle, for she, along with friends, Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston have such great bodies…and they love to flaunt them. Sheryl Crow, who’s abreast cancer survivor, is also a 9-time Grammy winner. She has two adopted son, Wyatt Steven, whom she adopted in 2007 and Levi James, whom she adopted in 2010. Crow, who was engaged to Lance Armstrong from September 2005 to February 2006, is now dating Doyle Bramhall, a musician.

Jon Stewart’s Minor Accident

“The Daily Show” host, Jon Stewart made a quick trip to Mt. Sinai Medical Center to be stitched up. The funny host accidentally cut his wrist during a gregarious routine about NY Congressman, Anthony Weiner. His mishap caused by a broken margarita glass caused Stewart six stitches. Good thing the show was being prerecorded so Stewart was able to get medical treatment for his cut wrist right away. It’s still not stopping him from targeting the congressman whom he attended college with. Stewart is enjoying beating Fox News in the ratings game these days, his new bandaged wrist may just earn him a couple more viewers.

Rebecca Black Works With Katy Perry

If you’re asking who the heck is Rebecca Black…you certainly don’t watch TV enough (good for you). There was no news magazine show that did not feature her viral music video on YouTube in the last two months. She’s the 13 year old girl who was singin’ about “partyin’, partyin” over the weekend. Cheesiness sells perhaps. Internet sensation, Rebecca Black whose amateur music video centered on her favorite day of the week and her love for “partyin’” gets the rare chance to work with Katy Perry. To have someone as powerful as Perry expressing her support for you, we’re hoping Black would learn a thing or two in making better videos…and singing better. Black has a cameo appearance in Perry’s latest music video, “Last Friday Night” and it will be released on the 14th of June.

Michele Bachmann Takes On Sarah Palin

Competition is getting fierce between the two faces of the Tea Party. Michele Bachmann who currently serves as the congresswoman of Minnesota will be giving former Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin areason to study harder for they’re up against each other for the 2012 Republican nomination. With three law degrees and four years of serving as congresswoman on her resume’, Bachmann is seen as a more serious candidate than Palin. Opinionated Republicans have begun to take sides. Supporters of Bachmann are very quick to criticize Palin these days, saying she’s not at all prepared for such a powerful position. Her giving up her governor seat for a career on TV is seen as a sign of weak priorities. It is quite odd however, for neither woman has declared officially their intent to run for president.

Michael J. Fox Turns 50

Michael J. Fox celebrates his 50th birthday. The Canadian actor who’s been fighting Parkinson’s disease bravely since the nineties is a strong advocate in raising awareness about the condition. Fox was one of the biggest idols of the eighties and will forever be remembered for his role in the hit movie franchise, “Back to the Future” as Marty Mcfly. He revived his TV career in the nineties through “Spin City.” In 2000 however, he was forced to leave the show because of his worsening condition. Charlie Sheen took over until the show wrapped. Both actors won Emmy’s for the show. Fox’s most recent TV gig was the “Good Wife” which stars Julianna Margulies and Chris Noth.

Natalie Portman and Fiancé’ Write to the President

This year’s Oscar Best Actress winner, Natalie Portman and her fiancé’, Benjamin Millepied wrote toPresident Barack Obama to show their support for the movement to make gay marriage legal in the US. Portman who portrayed a ballerina who had same-sex relations in her Oscar-winning movie, Black Swan, joins over a hundred thousand people pushing for equality in marriage for gays. Portman and her fiancé’ are just two of the growing number of celebrities joining this campaign. Another famous couple joining the pressure for the legalization of gay marriage is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who stated that they will not wed unless everybody in the US enjoys the right to marriage. Massachusetts was the first state to legalize same-sex marriage; it’s also where staunch advocates of the movement, Jane Lynch and Dr. Lara Embry got married May of 2010. Majority of the states still define marriage as a union between man and a woman and do not hold Hollywood celebrities as arbiters of what to make legal or not, but celebs are making themselves heard.
