Former senator and presidential hopeful John Edwards appeared in a North Carolina court yesterday for federal tax offense charges. Edwards, who’s accused of using donations for his campaign to conceal affair with Rielle Hunter, pleads not guilty. During his campaign for presidency in 2008, Edwards reportedly received close to $1 million dollars from two rather “well-known” supporters, when the biggest allowed amount for contribution from an individual is only $2,300. This large amount of money was supposedly used to pay for Hunter’s prenatal care and to keep things quiet about her condition. He and his lawyers will be working on crunch time on their defense for the next court date will be in the fall. During this period they are expected to review and study the evidences that the prosecution will be releasing, about 5,000 documents a day. Right now, Edwards is free on bond.
